Okay. I tried SO HARD to continue to love this series, to finish it until the end, but I'm sorry to say that it just didn't have that kind of exciting spark in the last few episodes to keep me going. When I first read the synopsis, and Dramabeans' recap of the first episode, I have had quite a lot of expectations for Personal Taste. I have never seen any of Son Ye Jin's projects before so I was looking forward to seeing her, and Lee Minho -- well, who hasn't watched 2009's big hit Boys Over Flowers? That guy totally carried the entire show, I was impressed.
Personal Taste wasn't.. really that bad, as in the My Fair Lady-type of bad. After all, the acting was more than decent -- the actors did an amazing job, they kept their characters away from becoming too stereotypical and bland, which is a good thing, because I actually enjoyed hating the evil character Kim In Hee and her crafty little schemes to get what Park Kae In had. And the music! Despite being inserted at awkward cues sometimes, it was because of the drama's OST that I'm starting to like Younha. Heeee.
The series was fun while it lasted, but the last two episodes felt too rushed and the conflicts were resolved TOO easily. I'm not asking for more drama but they could have added a little more plot devices to avoid turning the story into something predictable and cliched. What only drove me to keep watching was Lee Minho and Son Yejin, because I was in love with their portrayal of Jeon Jinho and Park Kae-in, respectively. I think with a few more episodes and some good writing, Personal Taste could have been a lot better.
NEXT ON MY LIST:
It's either My Girl (Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae; a Hong Sisters drama!), or Goong/Princess Hours (OMG, I'm starting to love Yoon Eun Hye). Which drama comes first will depend on the availability and quality of the videos I'll find :D
Other dramas I'm looking forward to watch soon are Coffee House, My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (around August, I think), and, probably, Nodame Cantabile.
Labels: Lee Min Ho, Personal Taste, Son Ye Jin
